The Sausalito Woman’s Club Presents

GIVE A WORLD OF GOOD THIS HOLIDAY

Shop Rising Worldwide’s Global Marketplace Holiday Sale

Friday, November 17th 5-8:00 p.m. for members and their guests; Saturday, November 18th Open to the Public 10:00AM - 5:00PM

On Saturday, November 18th, the Sausalito Woman’s Club will be open to the public and transformed into a stunning global marketplace. Holiday shoppers will find unique and meaningful gifts handcrafted by women survivors of war, extreme poverty, gender-based violence, and human trafficking.  Fairly traded jewelry, fashion accessories, and home décor from over 20 countries will be featured.

Marketplace products are made possible by Rising Worldwide’s social and economic justice programs. RW trains survivors of injustice to run their own businesses both locally and globally.  Internationally, 5200 artisan-entrepreneurs in 26 developing countries have participated and averaged a 300% increase in annual income.

Countries represented in the marketplace include D.R. Congo where violence against women is used as a war tactic; Pakistan where learning to read or write could cost a woman her life; Guatemala where Mayan girls are the most illiterate population in all of Latin America, and India where the Global Slavery Index indicates that there are more women and girls held as slaves than in any other country in the world.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, sales of the artisan’s goods drastically declined leaving Rising with a surplus of inventory. Rising is holding its first significant in-person sale in order to raise funds to support artisan programs in immediate need. Shoppers will enjoy savings of up to 70% off.

One such Rising program in need is the Stand with Ukraine bracelet initiative. The bracelet is made by women in the Bay Area who are survivors of local human trafficking. Proceeds support a human trafficking prevention program for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, a country known as a trafficking hub.

Rising Worldwide’s vision is to create a world where everyone, including women and girls, has the chance to prosper and live their dreams.  The Sausalito Woman’s Club also believes in and participates in the fulfillment of dreams.

The Sausalito Woman’s Club Scholarship Recognition Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides financial support, encouragement, and acknowledgement to deserving students from Sausalito and Marin City in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Supported solely through community fundraising and individual donations, as well as commemorative and memorial gifts, the SWCSRF seeks to support students who are permanent residents of the Sausalito Marin City School District and pursuing any post-secondary education, including college, graduate school, and vocational training.  Since its founding in 1956, the SWCSRF has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships; proceeds directed to it from this wonderful Rising Worldwide event will be used to fund future scholarships, so that deserving local students can achieve their higher-education dreams.

Rising Worldwide’s founder and executive director, Carmel Jud, will be a featured speaker at this event. African songstress, Djide` will share stories of the life she left in Cameroon, Africa.

5% of all marketplace proceeds will benefit the Sausalito Woman's Club Scholarship Program by funding local scholarships to be awarded in June of 2024. All contributions to SWCSRF are a tax-deductible donation!

Marketplace shoppers will also enjoy complimentary refreshments and door prizes. Admission is free.
