Marin Communities: Belvedere

Belvedere sits on the Southern side of the tip of Tiburon, a small peninsula extending into San Francisco Bay. Belvedere actually consists of two "islands," the larger being Belvedere Island, the smaller being Corinthian Island (which is shared with Tiburon), and a lagoon (Belvedere Lagoon) situated between the two islands.

Many Belvedere properties are renowned for their spectacular views of the Bay Area, Angel Island, San Francisco, Sausalito, the Golden Gate Bridge and Mount Tamalpais. While there are no shops or restaurants allowed in Belvedere, the peninsula is minutes away from downtown Tiburon's fine amenities, and it is also close to the ferryboats for San Francisco commuters.

Its exclusivity has kept property values extremely high; home prices easily exceed $2 million and some of the most expensive homes in the United States are located in this small community.

Belvedere has the highest income of any city in California (judged by average per capital annual income) adn the 17th highest income in the United States (1st with a population over 1,000). Belvedere also has it own "Sailing Society," a sailing and social club open to the residents of Belvedere. Events occur year-round with a summer sailing season including Lido, Lazer and Sunfish races on the Lagoon.

Like Tiburon, Belvedere is adjacent to two of the Bay Area's fine yacht clubs: The Corinthian and the San Francisco Yacht Club.

Note on the "Walk Score" below, that Belvedere is not completely car-dependent. Exactly where you live on the Island determines accessibility to amenities. Many places are within easy distance, especially for people who enjoy walking. If you are interested in a specific property, just fill in the address to determine the "walkability."
